Meet Tash
At the age of 7, the girl’s grandmother became completely blind. On hair care days, her grandmother had to feel around her hair to part and braid it for school, as she couldn’t see what she was parting. As a consequence, this little girl was bullied at school for having horrible hair with terrible partings. She subsequently decided to take control of her own hair.
This girl was born and bred in the parish of Portland in the beautiful island of Jamaica. Her father was a farmer and her mother a housekeeper; both her parents separated when she was only about 2 years old. Her dad later migrated to the United Kingdom and her mom relocated to a different parish to start a new life, leaving her grandmother, who was visually impaired, to care for her.

The Journey
Since they couldn’t afford to buy the right hair products or visit a hairdresser, the girl decided to use whatever plants she could find in the bushes to make her very own oil and soap. One of her favorite oils to make was coconut oil, in which she grated the coconut, squeezed the milky juice from it, and placed it through a boiling and simmering process respectively, in order to get nicely refined organic coconut oil. She still has sad, yet fond memories of her grandmother sitting close by and giving her safety tips as she tried to complete this task on her own.
After several experiments with making different oils and mixing them together, she found the perfect blend to help regrow her grandmother’s thinning hair and bald patches. The girl practiced, over and over, gripping her grandmother’s short hair until it was fully grown. It was at this point that she realized that she has a rear talent for braiding short and stubborn hair. This requires a special skill that encourages hair growth, of which only a few persons, including herself, managed to master the art.
It did not take long for people in her community to begin to take notice of the miraculous hair transformation. Instantaneously persons began to buy oils from the girl and visit her on a regular basis to get their short hair braided. Sadly, before she was age 10, her grandmother passed away, leaving her to wander from one home to another.
The first real breakthrough came when, at age 17, her father petitioned for her to join him in London, United Kingdom. That’s when her journey began and she finally had the opportunity to share her gift to a much larger population.
This girl is now the founder of My Grip Game. Her aim is to bring back the scent of those natural organic oils that she hand-made and mixed together for all different types of hair conditions, especially the ones that seem like medical conditions or genetic traits.
With over 25 years of experience, Tasha became an expert in advising people on exactly what they need to do to retain healthy growing hair, no matter the condition of the hair.
